Bush Drive-Thru
At Black Pond Farm |

The "Berry Bush Drive-Thru" is in operation in it's first wave of juicy berries! Preston (age 3), gives them the "thumbs up".
The first summer (1998) after we purchased the farm, we had SO MANY unpicked berries! I was taking care of a new baby and didn't have the energy to go out to pick any of them. Tim had not yet discovered the "attraction" and it took one more season before he "came around". Now he takes the kids out daily to hunt for berries.
Farmhands Preston and Erin perched atop their favorite rocks snacking on berries.

Here at Black Pond Farm, we have a 1/4 mile long driveway to reach our gate. It's just a gravel route off a basic country road...until summer arrives! During the summer months as we bounce down that gravel driveway, we stop and roll down the windows, "One order of berries for the backseat please -- to go!" Each year we anxiously await the arrival of tasty berries. First come the salmon berries. They can be a bright orange or red like raspberries. Those are followed by tiny huckleberries; a wild cousin to blueberries. Then, we have a wave of thimble berries that are little buttons that kinda' look like raspberries. Finally, come the best black berries ever to grace a thorny bush!
