Misha Pup Joins The Cast of Characters

Misha Pup posses June 2001

In just one afternoon in the house, Misha pup learned a new trick!

It's a combat crawl of sorts.

When I call her and drum the floor with my hands she crawls across the floor on her belly to me!

Chickens (and ducks) are a problem.  I need to spend time outside working with her on this.

You see, our new farm dog caught one a day while we were on vacation recently.  Misha is intelligent enough not to kill for the sport (unlike most dogs).  She catches one, eats the tasty breast meat, then our smart new puppy brings me the carcass to dispose of.

Uh, this is a problem...

I'll let you know how she does.  I've been working with her and I'm happy to report that it's been a few days since she did THIS trick for me.

Misha Pup was known as "Freckles puppy" in the batch of pups our friend Teresa and her family had at their place in Gold Bar Washington.

Her Mother is a papered Australian cattle dog.  Although they HAVE a male that's also papered, we would have to guess that a German Shepard found his way into their pen one fine day.  The happy result included this puppy.

Little Freckles was Teresa's pick of the litter -- and with good reason!  This little pup is intelligent and soft-hearted.  She amazes me on a daily basis.

When she came to the farm, Erin started calling her "Lisa", or so I thought.  After asking more questions, our little 3-year-old clarified that it was "Misha".  I don't know where she heard that name, but it stuck.  By the end of the day this bright puppy would come running when called by her new name!

Maggie Doggie and Misha bonded right away.  Maggie is showing early signs of arthritis in her joints (and beginning to gray in the face too).  She needed some help with her farm duties and some therapy to exercise those stiff legs.  Misha pup has her playing like a puppy again!
